Bécancour, 2 october 2023, PRESS RELEASE – On September 26, 2023, the general Assembly for the establishment of the Energy Transition Valley (VTE) was held in Bécancour. The VTE is at the heart of strategic actions leading to the realization of its business plan, important partnerships, the formation of a joint financing front, and the concrete establishment of three research centers focused on battery technology, electrification of transportation, low-carbon hydrogen, and industrial/ports decarbonization.
We have just reached a significant milestone, and we want to thank all the corporate and active members who attended the general Assembly for their interest in energy transition and their willingness to collaborate towards a decarbonized future.
In the wake of this, the first official executive board of the VTE has been established. As a result, the transitional executive board is passing the torch to the new board, which will consist of 13 members, with the possibility to increase the number of seats to 15 through co-option. The transitional executive board has played a crucial role in leading us to this important stage over the past 18 months, and we sincerely thank them for their availability and commitment to the success of the VTE.
The seven elected administrators at the general Assembly have convened with the administrators of the six reserved seats. It will now be up to the VTE’s scientific committee, which will take shape in the coming weeks, to designate its representative from the academic community as an administrator on the VTE executive board.
We are pleased to note the quality and diversity of the new administrators who will contribute their skills and experiences to propel the VTE’s momentum and contribute to the dynamism of Quebec’s innovation ecosystem while creating intellectual wealth for our society.
Statement from Mr. Pierre Ducharme, President of the official executive board of VTE:
“The Energy Transition Valley (VTE) is unquestionably well-positioned to support its recent momentum. With the composition of its executive board now formalized, VTE can rely on a strong and diverse expertise, which will enable it to begin establishing spaces, where people from our academic institutions, representatives of the community, and the industrial sector can collaborate in the short term. A promising future in terms of energy transition is underway.”
