VTE and four industrial research clusters join forces to promote energy transition

PRESS RELEASE – Trois-Rivières, May 28, 2025 – Born out of a desire to coordinate their efforts to accelerate the energy transition and optimize Quebec’s economic development, the Vallée de la Transition Énergétique (VTE), the Consortium de recherche et d’innovations en bioprocédés industriels au Québec (CRIBIQ), the Consortium for Research and Innovation in Metallurgical Transformation (CRITM), InnovÉÉ, and the Quebec Advanced Materials Research and Innovation Cluster (PRIMA Québec) have signed a promising collaboration agreement. Among other things, this agreement focuses on optimizing their shared and complementary expertise in supporting the financing of collaborative research projects.

Establishing an ecosystem conducive to innovation

The VTE and the industrial research clusters (RSRI) participating in this agreement wish to optimize access to infrastructure, cutting-edge equipment, tools, and expertise within their ecosystems in order to create an environment conducive to supporting innovation and promoting the commercialization of scientific and technological discoveries.

The VTE, whose mission is to bring together the driving forces of the energy transition, and the RSRI, which have been designated by the Quebec government to act as intermediary and funding organizations for collaborative research and development, are key players in innovation and networking between the research community and industry.

“The signing of this collaboration agreement with the four RSRI, namely CRIBIQ, CRITM, PRIMA, and InnovÉÉ, represents for the VTE the establishment of a first set of partnerships for the creation of an ecosystem of innovation and value capture capable of providing concrete support for innovative and promising projects for Quebec’s energy transition. It’s time to support local expertise and know-how,” said Alain Lemieux, Executive Director of the VTE.

This collaboration with the VTE innovation zone is just the beginning of a strong commitment to WORKING TOGETHER on Quebec’s energy transition. As RSRI, our mission is to establish and support a collaborative innovation ecosystem conducive to the development of strategic economic sectors for the benefit of research centers, businesses, and Quebec society. We are confident that our joint efforts will lead to concrete projects that will have a real impact on Quebec, its society and the environment.” said Thierry St-Cyr, President and CEO of InnovÉÉ, on behalf of the four RSRI participating in the agreement.
