Bécancour, February 15, 2024, PRESS RELEASE – The Energy Transition Valley (VTE) in Bécancour, Shawinigan, and Trois-Rivières has reached a new milestone with the establishment of its management team, which will work on the deployment and implementation of the innovation zone.
Since its designation as an innovation zone by the Government of Quebec on May 29, 2023, the VTE has been working to bring together various stakeholders from the realms of academia, industry, and entrepreneurship within attractive living environments, with the aim of fostering innovation in key sectors of energy transition, including the battery industry, electrification of transportation, as well as hydrogen and industrial-port decarbonization.
Over the past few months, the VTE has established its governance structure and made significant progress in developing its business plan. It has conducted numerous studies and formed a scientific committee comprised of regional, Quebecois, and internationally renowned experts recognized for their contributions to the development of the battery industry, electrification of transportation, low-carbon hydrogen, and decarbonization technologies. The VTE has expanded its activities and facilitated exchanges and collaborations among the knowledge ecosystem, industrial stakeholders, and actors in the field.
Starting in 2024, the organization will benefit from the support of a strong management team responsible for deploying actions within the innovation zone, particularly focusing on business development, enhancing living environments within the three poles of the VTE, strategic partnerships, government and international affairs, knowledge environment and innovation ecosystems, as well as high-impact special projects. It will also oversee the facilitation of an exchange corridor with Europe.
Now more than ever, the VTE aims to mobilize the ecosystem and implement its vision of “working together” by actively collaborating with regional, national, and international stakeholders to provide relevant options for the challenges and issues facing the implementation of the innovation zone in Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec.
During the press conference scheduled for Thursday, February 15th, at the Bécancour Industrial and Port Park Society, Alain Lemieux, Chief Executive Officer of the VTE, will present its achievements, its management team, and unveil its priorities for 2024.
