The Pan-Canadian Hydrogen Hubs Alliance unites five leading regional hydrogen organizations across Canada to accelerate clean energy innovation and the transition to a low-carbon economy. The Alliance is founded by the Energy Transition Valley (VTE, Québec), Simon Fraser University’s Clean Hydrogen Hub (British Columbia), the Newfoundland and Labrador Hydrogen Innovation Partnership (HyIP), the Edmonton Regional Hydrogen Hub (Alberta), and more recently the Atlantic Hydrogen Alliance (AHA) which joined the partnership.
Together, these partners bring complementary regional strengths and shared strategic vision to build a thriving national hydrogen ecosystem that drives investment, supports technological breakthroughs, and enhances workforce development. By coordinating activities across regions, the Alliance fosters collaboration between industry, academia, government, and community stakeholders, helping to scale hydrogen solutions that contribute to a more resilient, sustainable, and economically competitive Canada.

SFU Clean Hydrogen Hub
In response to the intensification of climate change, Simon Fraser University (SFU) has established the Clean Hydrogen Hub, a collaborative platform aimed at accelerating the commercialization of clean hydrogen solutions and reducing production costs. In partnership with governments, industry, and various ecosystem players in British Columbia and Canada, the Hub acts as a megawatt test bed for the development of emerging technologies. Located on the Burnaby campus, it is a global research and innovation center connecting researchers, technology developers, manufacturers, community partners, and industrial users to contribute to the decarbonization of the Canadian economy and the international influence of the sector.

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydrogen Innovation Partnership
The Hydrogen Innovation Platform (Hy-IP) is a collaborative hub dedicated to accelerating the development and commercialization of clean hydrogen technologies in Canada. By bringing together researchers, technology companies, industrial partners, and government stakeholders, Hy-IP supports innovation through applied research infrastructure, demonstration projects, and strategic business support. The hub promotes the scaling up of technological solutions, knowledge transfer, and the development of integrated value chains, thereby contributing to the decarbonization of key economic sectors and positioning Canada as a leader in clean hydrogen.

Edmonton Regional Hydrogen Hub
The Edmonton Region Hydrogen Hub, led by Hydrogen Canada, is a collaborative center that aims to make the Edmonton region a global leader in the clean hydrogen economy. It brings together municipalities, industries, and associations to develop a strong hydrogen value chain, support innovation, accelerate the adoption of low-emission technologies, and promote the decarbonization of heavy industries. The hub leverages the region’s well-established hydrogen production capabilities and strategic infrastructure to stimulate clean economic growth, foster concrete projects (such as the integration of hydrogen into transportation and industry), and position Alberta as a major player in the energy of tomorrow.

Atlantic Hydrogen Alliance
The Atlantic Hydrogen Alliance (AHA) is a collaborative organization that supports the development of a low-emission hydrogen value chain in Canada’s Atlantic provinces. It aims to accelerate the adoption of clean hydrogen solutions to help the region meet its climate goals, while stimulating economic growth and innovation in sectors that are difficult to decarbonize. The AHA works with public and private partners to develop regional strategies, encourage pilot projects, and establish conditions conducive to hydrogen production, transportation, and use. Through its integrated approach, it is helping to position Atlantic Canada as a key player in the emerging clean hydrogen economy.
