Trois-Rivières, April 28, 2026, PRESS RELEASE – A thoughtful transition and ensured continuity in the executive leadership of the Energy Transition Valley.
After four years as Executive Director of the Energy Transition Valley (VTE), Mr. Alain Lemieux will step down from his position on May 29 to pursue a career in the private sector, where he will focus on supporting companies, startups, innovators, and investors working in energy transition and innovation. This decision is part of a planned process aimed at ensuring a structured transition to new leadership, in line with the VTE’s mission, DNA, and ambitions.
A transformative track record and solid foundations
Since its recognition as a Quebec Innovation Zone, the VTE has undergone a pivotal phase of structuring, mobilization, and maturation. Under the leadership of Alain Lemieux, the VTE has established solid organizational foundations based on good governance, a qualified and committed team capable of supporting a growing organization, a clear scientific program, and a unified and complementary ecosystem involving the founding cities of Bécancour, Shawinigan, and Trois-Rivières, numerous academic and research partners, as well as industrial, institutional, and financial stakeholders.
A clear path forward: Infrastructure, Industrialization, and Impact
The phase ahead will be decidedly challenging and decisive for the future of the VTE. The coming years will see the concrete implementation of major projects stemming from the planning work carried out, which will accelerate research and innovation, scaling up, and industrialization within a commercialization-oriented ecosystem.
A confident transition, building on continuity
Alain Lemieux will remain in his position until May 29. He is committed to providing all necessary support to ensure a smooth, efficient transition that respects the teams and partners. This transition marks a natural evolution. He will now focus his efforts on directly supporting private projects to help entrepreneurs and investors navigate the critical transition to the market.
“I am proud to have contributed to the success of the VTE, which today rests on strong foundations, evolving governance, a competent team, and a clear vision for the coming years. It is now entering a phase where infrastructure, industrialization, and the creation of concrete economic value will take center stage. The foundations are in place, the ambitions are clear, and the future holds great promise for Quebec. As I continue my journey as an innovative entrepreneur and investor, I will contribute to projects that enable risk reduction, scaling up, and market valuation. I will remain an ally of the VTE and deeply committed to its collective success,” concludes Alain Lemieux.
The Board of Directors wishes to highlight Alain Lemieux’s major contribution to the establishment of the Energy Transition Valley and expresses full confidence in the future.
“The VTE relies on a clear vision and strong collective momentum to continue its development and amplify its economic, industrial, and environmental impacts for the benefit of Quebec. The members of the Board of Directors join me in thanking Mr. Lemieux for his contribution to the VTE,” said Pierre Ducharme, Chairman of the Board of Directors.
