15 Bécancour, October 2, 2024, PRESS RELEASE – International business mission organized by Energy Transition Valley and the Québec Delegation in Seoul. Bécancour, Shawinigan, Trois-Rivières and UQTR head to Seoul for Seoul Smart Life Week Invited by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the founding members of the Energy Transition Valley (VTE) will travel to Seoul, South Korea, to take part in the very first edition of the “Seoul Smart Life Week” event. Organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Digital Foundation, the event will take place from October 10 to 12, 2024. The mission is organized by the VTE, in close collaboration with the Délégation du Québec à Séoul (DQS). The aim of the mission is to exchange ideas with experts in Korean innovation in energy transition, in order to create collaborative links and promote Quebec know-how in terms of innovation and collaboration between municipalities and the world of knowledge. The delegation, which will be flying to Seoul in the next few days, includes Clément Villemont, VTE Vice-President Innovation; Jean Lamarche, Mayor of Trois-Rivières; Michel Angers, Mayor of Shawinigan; Lucie Allard, Mayor of Bécancour; Mario De Tilly, General Manager Innovation et Développement économique (IDE) Trois-Rivières; Gregory Gihoul, General Manager, City of Bécancour; Luc Arvisais, Director, Service de développement économique (SDE), City of Shawinigan and Adel O. Dahmane, Vice-Rector, Education and Training, Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR). Business meetings and visits focused on innovation During the first part of this business mission, from October 7 to 11, the Quebec delegation will first take part in several meetings and business visits organized by the DQS. Among other things, they’ll have the chance to meet POSCO and Écopro, partners well established in Bécancour. Afterwards, the delegation will travel to Coex to attend the “Seoul Smart Life Week”, featuring conferences, exhibitions of innovative solutions and networking sessions. This will be an opportunity to discuss Quebec innovations and share their vision of tomorrow’s smart cities. City representatives will also have the opportunity to speak on a panel and give speeches during the event.
